Franchise TYG Talks Surgery, Billboard Charts, and New Deal

A report came in to Mercedes MiLano (The Revolver‘s Chief Editor) this weekend about recording artist, Franchise TYG.  He’s been hospitalized for stomach complications and had to undergo surgery. We spoke with the artist after his recent Billboard success and he sounded fine.  We spoke on his latest release “Ice on Me”, which features former RCA artist Rory Fresco.  The track landed on the Rap and R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales chart on Billboard, October 27th.

What are the Billboard Charts?

The Billboard charts tabulate the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in the United States and elsewhere. The results are published in Billboard magazine. Billboard biz, the online extension of the Billboard charts, provides additional weekly charts, as well as year-end charts.

Marquise Lightfoot aka Franchise TYG dropped his single “Ice On Me” Remix and has dominated the charts since release. Even though the song was released in 2019, it wasn’t until September and October of 2020 that fans started to obsessively stream and listen to the track non-stop. “Ice On Me” features former RCA Records artist, Rory Fresco and is on the verge to 1 million streams on Spotify. Franchise TYG stated, “I peaked at #19 on iTunes in the Hip-Hop/Rap genre and that’s when I really started to pay attention.”

“I never thought the song would be this much of a hit, but I guess I was wrong. I’ve received nothing but good feedback.” says Franchise TYG.
