Grindweekly Interview with NRBARZ

1. Hi NRBARZ! How are you? I am good, family. Thanks for having me for this interview.

2. Where are you from? I am from the Caribbean Islands of the Bahamas.

3Why don’t you give us some details about the work you do. What do you specialize in? During the 9 to 5, I currently work for a local financial institution and outside of that, creating and recording music is a passion grind.

4When did you start music? My household growing up was first becoming a fan of music. It was a fond experience on any given weekend or holiday. My mother would play records and cassette tapes. Then later in the years, compact discs from her collection ranging from rhythm, blues, soca, calypso, reggae, gospel and even a little country music to add to that. As I was exposed to a cross-sectional range of genres also on national and international radio weekly chart programs, as a youth, my interest in music started from there.

5How did you get into music? I got my introduction to the music business in an official capacity as a member of a local group called “United” which consisted of a hybrid of talented individuals such as rappers, reggae chatters and singers alike at one time or another sharing a tenure in the group.

6Who inspires you the most musically? I got into music after hearing about the commercial market & the underground side which includes the likes of Hip-Hop songs such as “Respiration” by a pioneering underground hip-hop group known as "Black Star" featuring "Common", which made me want to start writing lyrics and rhyme like those story-telling hip-hop songs like that of “Children's Story" by Slick Rick. Hip-hop artists such as Nas, A Tribe called Quest & the spiritual-minded hip-hop creatives that you may not be familiar with, such as the Tunnel Rats, Deepspace 5, G.R.I.T.S., S.F.C., Lightheaded, Jasper Brown and the Procussions, just to name a few.

7Who is the one artist you wish you could work with? Neo-soul creatives are evolving in their lane. I would love to merge some hip-hop collaboration-wise and for real though, just talented artists who have found their lane and have that mutual respect for others in what they bring to the musical table for us all to eat metaphorically.

8What are the challenges of being an artist? Finding that balance consistently to juggle the responsibilities of daily life commitments while still making time to create music. So, it's just being intentional while at the same time being inspired organically. Feeding on that energy belief is itself a God-given gift.

9Anything else you want the audience to know about you? I will say this concerning your question that there is something for someone. Some songs I record may not be for you at this time or for you at all and some songs that I create or record might be for another but everyone can have their picks. If any of my songs connect with someone, whether in the present or the future, then I have done my job as a recording creative.

Grindweekly Interview with Taran Richards

Why don't you give us some details about you? Let's talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in?

My name is Taran Richards I was born and raised in the U.K and started music at the age of 20 as a solo artist networking and collaborating with people from all around the world. Over the years I learned how to Record, Produce, Write and perform my own songs at many Gigs to make a name for myself. To start my journey, I had received many broadcasts from BBC Introducing Radio Station in the U. K and since last year I signed a distribution deal with Amada Records and SSMG .Entertainment with management from R.N.T.Management. My last 4 single releases reach several hundred thousand of streams on many platforms worldwide. Not only that but one of my music videos was featured on NBC Comcast TV and many other video streaming platforms. One of my singles hit the top 25 Billboard Charts in the Red Devil Compilation album featuring Redman and the same single hit the charts twice last year and also top 5 in the Hip Hop iTunes Charts with my release called "Are You Ready". As a songwriter, performer and producer I specialize in producing music around the artists I work with, bringing many genres on release from organic International Hip Hop to Reggae Music and even production music for TV & film.

What do you like most about making music?

Every time I start to create a song, I combine sounds that express the way I feel. So, when I combine other elements to the song for example vocals, the finished product becomes like therapy to me. I don't think I could go a month without making music.

What inspired you to start playing and making music?

Listening to so many different artists over the years has inspired me so much as soon as I was able to get the equipment, I have become addicted to making songs ever since.

Which qualities do you think make a great musician?

Be dedicated, be different Be Prepared, be humble.

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

First, I create an instrumental and then I play the song over and over again. Then start to hear and add other sound elements to the song including vocals from either myself or from people all around the world that I can imagine will sound perfect on the project.

 What's next for you?

This year I plan to get my name out there so much more. I am going to be releasing new music for worldwide release and I am also currently working with R.B.Productions on 2 film projects due to be released this year.

Anyone you'd like to thank?

I would love to thank my Manager Andrew Drew Knibbs at R.N.T.Management for seeing my Talent and getting me the opportunity to get my music out to the World. I would also like to Thank Tiffany Gaines at SSMG Entertainment for all her advice and help with my releases. Massive shout out to R.B.Productions on choosing me to work with them on these upcoming projects. Big Love to Ivree Moore for all her advice on helping me see my core value in the industry.
