DJ Choice explained that Kali Ranks, a Jamaican by birth, already had the song and just needed someone to push it. The track, titled Monsta, will include Chris Brown, up-and-coming female artist Stephanie Adler.

“Ever since the success of the Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica album (which did 19 weeks on the billboard reggae Charts top 10 and four weeks at number one), a lot of artistes have been reaching out to me. One of the artistes who linked me was Kali Ranks. He wanted Contractor Music Group to distribute and promote his song with Chris Brown through our partners, Amada Records,” Edwards said.

We have Snoop Dogg, FLO & KC Da Beatmonster, Boneface (Black Ink), Missy Elliot, Inno Combs, C-Murder (Master P’s brother), Jadakiss & Project Pat. It’s going to be a huge album.” Reggae artist Capleton will also be featured on the project, as he is set to showcase his versatility on a hip-hop-flavoured track.

Paasky Drops New Track With Lolly, ‘Gwapale’

Born Rashad Kelly, Paasky grew up during the Cash Money era and is greatly inspired by their success. The reality that someone from New Orleans actually made it big is what gave Paasky the drive and passion to rap.Paasky grew up in the pre gentrified 5th Ward of New Orleans, LA. His father grew up with Baby, and Slim, so in ‘99 when “The Block Is Hot” was released, he was able to attend meet and greets, get autographs, and meet The Hot Boys. It was in that moment that Paasky knew the effect that the group had on all of New Orleans, the world, and himself, and that’s when he chose his Faith, he was only ten years old.

Paasky began taking his ministry seriously in 2010, when he decided that he was completely done with pursuing college, and went all in with the music. That year he dropped his first solo tape ‘Suggested Retail’. Since the release of ‘Suggested Retail’, he’s released 2 mix tapes a year while consistently delivering powerful punch lines and thought provoking metaphors laced with a slight east coast flair. Paasky has worked with notable artists such as Curren$y, G-Eazy, Raj Smoove, 3D Natee, Don Flamingo Kourtney Heart, Nesby Phips and the super producers Flight School just to name a few. His talents supersedes underground and have allotted him the chance to open up for the likes of the legendary Slick Rick, Bun B, Rich Homie Quan, BIG K.R.I.T. and Big Sean just to name a few.

“An introduction to Paasky’s music, is like taking a music history course from the cool, young, hip professor, who also does music himself. Paasky was birthed out of the rise of Cash Money in New Orleans’ 5th Ward. His father hung around the founders of the multi platinum selling record label, Baby and Slim. Early on in his life, Paasky was exposed to the label’s owners, and its subsequent artists, which steered him in the direction to use rap as his way of life. Can’t you hear the rich history in the way Paasky tells the stories of his life, which is all his raps are composed of, stories. A vintage storyteller in modern times, the way Nas brought us stories from times before him, and times that he lived through.” – TheRadioShaq, The Source Magazine

Recording Artist Jason Ivy Takes Us ‘Higher’ With New Single Release

Born and raised in Chicago, Jason Ivy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Linguistics. As a multitalented musician and recording artist, Jason combines his formal training with veteran vocal coach Dr. Lena McLin and his time in the Soul Children of Chicago (among other groups), with his love of music and its ability to tell a story, send a message, express feeling, and unite myriad people all at once. Mr. Ivy takes influence from the Hip Hop, Neo-Soul, Alt Rock, and “Lo-fi” music genres, to bring us a fresh perspective on music.

The single “Higher” was inspired by a late summer hangout with Jason Ivy and friends. It was the first time that all of them had gotten together, but it was so late in the season that it would likely also be the last time. Of course, among his friends happened to be a girl that he liked at the time, so Jason ran with the idea of unrealized love interests and coupled it with cool summer vibes. Those themes were transformed into a unique love song that examines the feelings of a confident young man at the start of a blossoming relationship.“Higher” features thoughtful, brooding lyrics with lines that cascade effortlessly from one to the next, and silky smooth vocals crooned over old school cool 80’s production.

The Top 10 Albums We’re Most Excited About in the Year of 2019

It seems difficult to recall the last time there was a ‘bad year for music’ what with so many artists continuing to deliver runs of exceptional work, and we have no reason to think 2019 will be anything less than stellar. Case in point? The ten albums we’ve selected that we know (or at least, feel very confident) will be headed our way this year.

From the long-teased Yandhi from Kanye West to Lana Del Rey’s upcoming avant-garde Americana epic Norman Fucking Rockwell, these are the 2019 albums we need the most:

Gesaffelstein

The enigmatic French producer is making his long-awaited return with Hyperion, set to be released in the next few months. His new jam with The Weeknd is a banger, but that dulls in comparison to lead single “Reset,” a slinky slice of dark electro that arrived with an ambitious, eye-popping meta-critique of a video. We have high expectations, to say the least.

Release Date: TBA

James Blake

After an all-too-brief appearance on one of the best rap tracks of 2018, our generation’s king of crooning is back in the spotlight with Assume Form, his fourth album proper. While no music from the project has been released, a guest roster that finds him collaborating with the likes of Metro Boomin, André 3000, and Travis Scott is enticement enough.

Release Date: January 18

Kanye West

After what was summarily the worst year for his career and public persona on record, the future of Kanye’s much-teased album Yandhi is anyone’s guess; he could release it tomorrow, he could release seven other albums that aren’t Yandhifirst. After last year’s ye, which objectively is among his weakest releases to date, and coupled with his current standing in pop culture, Yeezy is in desperate need of a comeback. Perhaps 2019 will be his year?

Release Date: TBA

Kendrick Lamar

Everything we’ve heard is hearsay, but that doesn’t mean we’re not holding out hope 2019 will indeed produce a new Kendrick Lamar record. Quite possibly on the hottest streak of his stratospheric career (following 2017’s Pulitzer Prize-winning DAMN. and last year’s Black Panther soundtrack), is there any doubt that whatever Kenny does next will be anything less than game-changing excellence? No, there isn’t. That was not rhetorical.

Release Date: TBA

Lana Del Rey

By any measure, Lana Del Rey is on one. If the album titled Norman Fucking Rockwell didn’t make that clear, the wild set of songs she has released from the project definitely do. “Venice Bitch” may be the most singularly ambitious and balls-to-the-wall bonkers track in her catalog, a proggy, 10-minute folk ballad epic that is, inevitably, Lana through and through. Get ready for kitschy takedowns of Trump’s America.

Release Date: March 29

Cardi B’s Anti-Trump Video Rant Has Been Remixed Into A Banger

In case you’re living under a very large rock, President Trump is continuing the US Government shut down over the wall he wants to build between America and Mexico, and Cardi B is really pissed about it.

She is so pissed about the fact that government workers are being forced to go back to work without being paid (rightly so), that she took to Instagram to take down Trump in a mega-rant, and now that rant has been remixed into an absolute bop. The Gregory Brothers took clips of Cardi’s rant, remixed it and set it to the beat of Cardi’s breakout hit ‘Bodak Yellow’ and it is truly a masterpiece. It is now titled ‘Yeah Bitch/Nah Bitch’. On top of that, several Democratic senators publicly debated on Twitter whether they should share Cardi’s original rant.

Cardi 2020, anyone? View the remix here.
